New Patients
Welcome to Shine On Holistic
Taking the first step toward whole-body healing should feel welcoming, clear, and stress-free. Whether you are new to Traditional East Asian Medicine or returning to acupuncture, we are here to support your journey with personalized, compassionate care.
-
Your initial appointment is designed to give us a comprehensive understanding of your health history, current symptoms, and personal wellness goals.
Detailed Health Consultation: We’ll sit down to discuss your chief complaints, medical history, lifestyle, stress levels, and daily habits.
TCM Diagnostic Assessment: Your practitioner will examine your pulse and look at your tongue—two foundational, non-invasive diagnostic tools in East Asian Medicine that reveal internal organ balance and circulation.
Your First Treatment: You will receive a personalized acupuncture treatment on your very first visit. Needles are hair-thin, sterile, and single-use; most patients feel only a tiny pinch upon insertion followed by a deep sense of relaxation.
Customized Care Plan: At the end of your visit, we’ll outline a tailored treatment plan, which may include follow-up sessions, herbal recommendations, lifestyle tweaks, or supportive therapies like cupping or moxibustion.
-
Complete Digital Intake Forms: Please fill out your online patient forms prior to arriving to ensure we can dedicate as much time as possible to your consultation and treatment.
Wear Comfortable Clothing: Choose loose-fitting clothes (like sweatpants, yoga pants, or shorts) that can easily roll up above your knees and elbows.
Eat a Light Meal: Please have a snack or light meal an hour or two before your session. Receiving acupuncture on an empty stomach can sometimes cause lightheadedness.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water before and after your visit to support your body's natural healing response.

We operate as an out-of-network provider to ensure that your care is driven entirely by your health needs—not by insurance company restrictions or rigid treatment caps. Payment is due in full at the time of service.
How Superbills Work: If your health insurance plan includes out-of-network coverage for acupuncture, we are happy to provide you with an itemized medical receipt called a Superbill upon request.
Receive Your Superbill: After your treatment, we issue a document containing standard diagnostic (ICD-10) and procedure (CPT) codes, along with our clinic's credentials and payment record.
Submit to Insurance: You submit this document directly to your health insurance carrier (usually online through your member portal or via mail).
Get Reimbursed: Depending on your out-of-network benefits, your insurance provider will process the claim and send reimbursement checks directly to you, or apply the cost toward your out-of-network deductible.
Tip: We recommend calling the customer service number on the back of your insurance card before your first visit to ask about your "out-of-network acupuncture coverage." You can also pay for treatments using Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
