HELLO AND WELCOME!

We are Shannon and Jon Vermilyea, the founders of Shine On Holistic.

In fall of 2025, we relocated to Rockland to put down roots amidst the natural beauty of Midcoast Maine. Welcoming our child during the height of the pandemic—far from family and a local support network—left us physically and emotionally drained. Through that isolation, we experienced firsthand how vital good health, personal balance, and community connection truly are. Seeking a life anchored in connection, deeper purpose, and closeness to nature, we knew we needed a profound reset. Out of that personal journey, we set out to build the sanctuary we wished we had: a supportive space dedicated to holistic healing, collective well-being, and everyday renewal.

Shine On Holistic is our integrated acupuncture clinic and apothecary, focused on the collective wellness of Midcoast Maine. We believe self-care is the foundation for a thriving community. Shine On Holistic bridges Traditional East Asian healing methods with everyday wellness rituals to empower your health.

Meet the Founders

Shannon Vermilyea | Co-Founder & Acupuncturist

  • Raised on Oahu, Hawaii, Shannon was introduced to Traditional Chinese Medicine at an early age by her Korean immigrant mother. That foundational experience inspired her lifelong calling, leading her to earn a Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine from Dongguk University in Los Angeles.

Jon Vermilyea | Co-Founder & Manager

  • Jon is a visual artist raised in Connecticut, whose deep family roots to Rockland date back to before the Great Depression.
